Comment Threads on Gems

I really wish that gems had comment threads on them. For an example of how useful this sort of thing could be, take a look at how handles comment threads on addons (example:

I have a gem published on rubygems that has had over 4,000 downloads in the past year, but I haven't heard a single peep from the community. Sure, they could open an issue on the Github repo, but that requires a lot of effort.

Adding comment threads would be really easy, especially if you used something like Disqus (, which uses a client-side javascript embed to add comment threads instantly to web sites.

If this is a matter of implementation effort, I would be happy to donate my time and help out.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for the suggestion, but as this would be a duplication of features other services already proved (such as Ruby Toolbox, for instance), it isn't a feature we're likely to implement any time soon.
