Hello,
First thanks for the great rubygems service - my 100+ humble gems (10+ years of ruby coding) have about 2 million downloads, see [1].

Today I tried to publish a new "webclient" gem and got the error "webclient" - is too similar to an existing gem named "web_client".
The typo-protected "web_client" gem is at version 0.0.6 and the last update from April 2013.

Please, let me know if I can do anything to get "webclient" unblocked.

Thanks again. Cheers. Prost. Gerald Bauer

    Hi gerald,

We have whitelisted webclient, you should be able to claim it now.
I would recommend contacting the owner of web_client to check if they are still using it and would be interested in removing their gem. You can also consider using a different name to avoid confusion.

Thank you for your help. The publish now worked! For the record the source code is @ https://github.com/rubycoco/webclient The webclient is currently "bundled" with webget but the idea / plan is for easier (re)use to break it out into the new (standalone) webclient gem. Thanks again. Greetings from Vienna, Austria. Cheers.
