Can I take over a gem name that already exists

I'm curious to wether it is possible to take down an existing gem which hasn't been updated since 3 years so that I can reuse the name?

This is the gem that I'm talking about.

    You'll have to talk to the owners of that gem - have you tried contacting them via email? If not we can add them here and help facilitate. But it might be easier to just rename your gem.

    Dear Nick,

    I did contact the owners of the gem but i did not get any reaction.
    Renaming my gem seems to be the fastest way so i'll jist do that.
