<p>I started with:</p>

~ $ git clone http://github.com/rubygems/rubygems/ && cd rubygems

rubygems $ git checkout 1.8
rubygems $ sudo ruby -Ilib bin/gem cleanup tilt --debug -V

Clean Up Complete
rubygems $ gem list tilt

rubygems $ gem uninstall tilt

rubygems $ gem list | cut -d" " -f1 | xargs sudo gem uninstall -aIx

INFO: gem "actionpack" is not installed
INFO: gem "activemodel" is not installed
......
INFO: gem "tilt" is not installed
INFO: gem "treetop" is not installed
INFO: gem "tzinfo" is not installed

<p>so even with a fresh cloned rubygems and using sudo I can not
get my <strong><em>LOCAL GEMS</em></strong><br>

<p>Thanks for your response, great to have support staff out
there!</p>
<p>I 'resolved' my problem, by going back to a clean setup.<br>
First I imploded the gems and afterwards I still had to remove the
remainder of the .rvm directory.<br>
I am working fine now with newly installed rvm etc.</p>
<p>Thanks a lot and you can close this request.</p>
