Error when trying to install Vimmate

I succesfully installed rubygems on Ubuntu 11.04 with all the latest updates.
When trying to install Vimmate I run into the following error however:

$ gem install vimmate /usr/bin/gem:10: undefined method `manage_gems' for Gem:Module (NoMethodError)

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

   This sounds like a bug. Please report it here with the output of gem install vimmate -V --backtrace and gem env.
