Is this still an issue for you? Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce this, and have seen no information about any outages around the time you initially wrote in.

kerrizortag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/464877902018-12-08T18:24:49Z2018-12-08T18:24:50Zproblems accessing gems

It has since started working again with no changes on my side. It
seems every year or so there is this kind of outage with rubygems.org
and nothing to do but wait up to several days until it works again,
since there are no other options for troubleshooting. Some of these
outages in past years that take days to resolve are well documented on
various forums.
Most issues we've seen clear themselves shortly, as they're an issue between you and the CDN, not http://rubygems.org

Thanks again for contacting us, and hopefully you won't see this again anytime soon (I myself in 10 years have never had connectivity problems outside of an outage incident.. I'm either very lucky, or you're very unlucky in this regard! :) )

kerrizortag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/464877902018-12-15T01:24:07Z2018-12-15T01:24:08Zproblems accessing gems

I do not accept your misplaced hope and vague wave handing that
somehow this problem is just going to go away. Since when does
technology work that way? Each time this has happened to me it has
taken days to fix itself, and there are no tools or insight to try to
understand the cause.
You blame the CDN, but who sets that up and manages it for reliability?
Is there really no curiosity about the root cause here?
Your site's status report clearly does not reflect reality for all users
and that doesn't seem to concern you. After selling a client on the
virtues of Ruby, it's painful to have explain to them why there is zero
information on the outage of a critical component of the ecosystem.
Perhaps I am unlucky but I have met more than a few other Ruby
developers with similar experiences. Our whole startup was out of
commission in regards to Ruby work for days once and just as now, no one
could get any answers and we were summarily ignored by rubygems.org.
Of course, if you don't want to understand the problem and dismiss
reports like mine as aberrations not worthy of attention, you will
safely stay in your own bubble of believing that everything is ok.

As you can read in the RubyGems.org code of conduct insulting or derogatory comments are not tolerated anywhere that is part of the RubyGems.org project. Your post violates the code of conduct, so this is your single warning. If you continue after this warning, you'll be blocked from the RubyGems.org repos and this helpdesk system for one week.

indirecttag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/464877902018-12-15T02:39:54Z2018-12-15T02:39:54Zproblems accessing gems

Clearly I have hit a nerve speaking the truth about your organization
wanting to avoid exploring unpleasant facts about problems with the
site. There is no insult in my words, just honest criticism, which you
clearly can't handle.
Please ban me from your bubble by all means.

Good luck finding an alternative to RubyGems.

indirect
