Unable to download data from https://rubygems.org/ - timed out (https://api.rubygems.org/specs.4.8.gz)"

I've tried adding the rubygems site to my source but it's already there. I then tried to update using $ gem update --system which gave me the error "ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::RemoteFetcher::UnknownHostError)
timed out (https://api.rubygems.org/specs.4.8.gz)"

I've tried all of the solutions that came up on Google but nothing is working. I'm also a total noob so there is a very real chance I screwed something up. Look for any guidance! Thanks!

Chris Btag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/450606702018-04-22T12:55:46Z2018-04-22T12:55:46ZTrying to install rails

hi Chris B,

Looks like api.rubygems.org is not resolvable/reachable from your host. Can you please try to download spec file using wget or curl and see what error comes up?

sonalkr132
