It would be helpful if you include name of the gem you are
talking about :)
Is it https://rubygems.org/gems/node?

sonalkr132tag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/413715272016-12-31T07:10:35Z2017-01-01T04:13:40ZPrank Gem

Please feel free to re-open this conversation if you are still
having issues.

sonalkr132tag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/413715272016-12-31T17:31:32Z2017-01-01T04:13:40ZPrank Gem

Hi Aditya,

Yes, this "node" gem is still up and should still be removed as
is not
useful to the community. The author's documentation confirms it is
a joke:

"This gem is a joke with all this hype with the node.js
project." - Rafael Franca [source https://github.com/rafaelfranca/node]

The fact that people have downloaded the gem 31k times is
rather
embarrassing. Even if it took just an average of 30 seconds time
to
discover the joke in each of those cases, that's 258+ wasted
hours.

At any rate, happy new year!

I have added Rafael to conversation. Lets see what he has to say

I'm totally fine to remove the gem from RubyGems.org and I agree
with Cam's point.

Thank you to point it out.

Rafael Francatag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/413715272017-01-04T04:26:17Z2017-01-04T04:26:17ZPrank Gem

Hi Rafael,

Thank you! Yanking it yourself would be the fastest way to
resolve this. Feel free to do it at your earliest convenience.

sonalkr132tag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/413715272017-01-04T04:29:44Z2017-01-04T04:29:44ZPrank Gem

Awesome! Just did it.

in any of them.

It is not the job of RubyGems staff to decide what is useful to
the community. In the future we shouldn't pressure authors into
removing them by involving them directly in discussion.

We should only remove malicious gems. Other removal requests
should be handled directly by the issue filer and the maintainers
of that gem.

Eric Hodel
