Can you include a "download count" statistic for each gem in the daily marshal file?

No. The marshal file is used in very specific ways by RubyGems itself, and it often doesn't come from a dynamic, public source like We'd also be altering specifications that authors included in their gems, which we won't do.

If I were you, I'd consider opening another discussion about API access to download counts if it doesn't exist already.

This exists already in the query api. We could do a better job of releasing all the download stats, that's definitely on my list.
