Are you able to
resolve rubygems.org reliably?

David Radcliffetag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/391510522016-02-11T20:50:15Z2016-02-11T20:50:16ZTransient problems with downloading rubygems

I don't think its DNS although the error looks like it

2 Reasons for this
A) Ruby 2.2 instead of ruby 2,3 gives this error:
Gem::RemoteFetcher::FetchError: Errno::ETIMEDOUT: Connection timed
out - connect(2) for "rubygems.org" port 443 (https://rubygems.org/gems/thread_safe-0.3.5.gem)
B) "for i in $(seq 1 10); do wget https://rubygems.org; done" displays the
IP (54.186.104.15) but stills says connection timeout error.

To reply your question on twitter (I am BeepleStaff as well) yes
it is still happening....
So another discovery we made: The ruby 2.3 error seems to be
confusing and wrong...

Nathan Samsontag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/391510522016-02-11T21:40:22Z2016-02-11T21:45:06ZTransient problems with downloading rubygems

I'm having the same issue. rubygems.org resolves just fine. The
EC2 instance that it resolves doesn't respond to ping, so I'm
unable to provide a lot of detail.

I'm able to get a failure by simply running the following a
handful of times:
wget https://rubygems.org/gems/rake-10.5.0.gem

Eventually the request just hangs.

Here's a dig, ping, and traceroute.
hangs, the address it's connecting to is always the same. It hangs
at the HTTP connection, not DNS resolving.

having problems. Specifically hearing reports of problems between
London and NY. I'm told they are aware of the problem and working
on a resolution. Sorry I can't do more to help. I'll try to update
here if I hear anything new.

David Radcliffetag:help.rubygems.org,2010-01-19:Comment/391510522016-02-12T03:24:24Z2016-02-12T03:24:24ZTransient problems with downloading rubygems

The Telia problem has been resolved so hopefully you're not
seeing problems anymore.

David Radcliffe
