Problems installing gems

I have searched various forums and tried different far nothing seems to work. I am trying to install gems but they error out as below:

C:\>gem install rubyzip
ERROR: Could not find a valid gem 'rubyzip' (>= 0), here is why:
          Unable to download data from - SSL_connect retur
ned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed (
ERROR: While executing gem ... (TypeError)
    can't modify frozen object

I tried to add to the source as below:
C:\Users\kumam2>gem sources -a
Error fetching
        bad response Not Found 404 (

    There are a few other threads here ( and bugs reports on
    GitHub, like this one:

    Most likely there will be an updated version of RubyGems shortly that will
    correct these issues.

    Thank you Luis. I did refer to the the link that you provided. Is there an updated version of rubygems?

    I did try gem update --system
    but got the message:
    Latest version currently installed. Aborting.

    Please take a look on how to manually update RubyGems if it cannot be

    Thank you Luis. This update of Rubygems resolved my problems. I am now able to install the gems without any issues.
